My Aviation Journey

From a young age, I was fascinated by flight. Traveling to different countries as a kid, I would stare out the airplane window, watching the pilots in action and imagining what it would be like to sit in the cockpit. That curiosity never faded. When the time came to choose a career, I knew I had to pursue aviation.
I initially started college, but my passion for flying kept pulling me in a different direction. So, I made the leap—I put school on hold and enrolled at Epic Flight Academy in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, a structured Part 141 training program. There, I worked my way through the ranks, earning my Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Single & Multi-Engine, and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate. Training was challenging, but every milestone—from my first solo to passing my checkrides—reminded me that I was on the right path.
Why I Became a Flight Instructor
Becoming a pilot was my dream, but teaching others to fly became my purpose. Aviation isn’t just about learning how to control an aircraft—it’s about developing discipline, confidence, and sound decision-making skills. As a CFI, I get to guide aspiring pilots through that journey, just as my instructors once guided me.
One of my most rewarding moments as an instructor was when a former student reached out after passing his checkride. He told me that every time he found himself slightly off on altitude or airspeed, he could still hear my voice reminding him to adjust. That small detail gave him more confidence and made him feel safer in the cockpit. Stories like his remind me why I love this job. Many of my students have gone on to pass their checkrides and are now building hours toward their aviation careers—and knowing I played a part in their success is incredibly fulfilling.
My Teaching Philosophy
My approach to flight instruction is structured, personalized, and safety-focused. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching style to match their strengths while reinforcing areas that need improvement. I emphasize real-world application, making sure my students don’t just pass checkrides but also develop the skills and mindset to be safe, competent pilots in any situation.
Safety, precision, and confidence-building are at the core of my instruction. I want my students to walk away from each lesson feeling not just capable, but fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
Memorable Aviation Moments
There are moments in flying you never forget—your first solo takeoff is one of them. The first time I pushed the throttle forward, lifted off the ground, and realized I was completely on my own, it was an incredible mix of excitement, freedom, and responsibility. That moment solidified my passion and commitment to aviation.
Another milestone was passing my checkrides, each one proving to myself that I was truly meant to be in this career. Now, seeing my own students reach these same milestones is just as rewarding as achieving them myself.
